DECOMPOSING THE COMPOSED
Open 7th - 8th June
This is an outdoor exhibition that explores the decay of materiality when left in exposing environments. This project has been derived from the process of urban decay and the destruction of spaces previously known to be domestic.
The exhibition consists of three structures generated from varying materials. Each composition has been constructed to appear as though it belongs in a domestic space, to feed into the notions of urban decay. These constructions have been neglected in an outdoor setting for thirty days and have been documented each day over this period of time.
I have been inspired by the solid, sometimes geometric structures seen in derelict buildings and how they change and evolve when the decaying process begins. I like to take the negative ideas associated with decomposition and transform it into an image of beauty.
