These are a series of three sculptures I created for a project inspired by derelict buildings. I planned on leaving them in an outdoor setting and document them over a period of time to see how they decay. I wanted the structures to have a domesticated essence to them as many abandoned places were once used for domestic purposes and I wanted to replicate this decomposition. The sculptures have a range of materials (wood, mild steel, paper and acetate) and I thought that it would be interesting to see how these materials may interact with one another when they start to degrade.
I plan to photograph these sculptures everyday for a month to explore how they decay in an unconventional environment. This project will be shown in an online exhibition once completed, portraying how this experiment has gone.
